“When Shiva the Great Yogin chooses to become the Lord of the Dance, Nataraja, the universe appears as Consciousness in its most ecstatic forms: as art and play, as knowledge and beauty, as the very embodiment of awareness in the form of the Self.” —From Clothed in Consciousness: Nataraja in the Tantric Tradition by Dr. Douglas Brooks

About E-RYT 500 Certified Yoga Teacher Ulla Lundgren

My first experience with yoga was in my native country Sweden during the mid eighties. Acting (my former vocation) brought me to Los Angeles in 1988, where I began a continuous yoga asana practice a year later. My first influential teacher was Erich Schiffman. After completing my first yoga teacher training, I began teaching in 1995. That same year, I began studying Ashtanga vinyasa yoga with Tim Miller and David Swenson; for the next 6 years, I continued my studies with Tim and David.
In 1997, I founded The Yoga Experience, now a thriving yoga studio in Flagstaff, Arizona.

In the fall of 2001, I started studying Anusara Yoga and became certified through Anusara in 2005. Even though I have chosen to no longer be licensed with the Anusara organization, I still deeply value and teach what I have learned from my great teachers from that system. My primary yoga teachers since 2001 have been Sianna Sherman, Noah Maze, Naime Jezzeny, Jamie Allison, and John Friend. I also passionately study yoga philosophy with my teachers Dr. Douglas Brooks and Christopher (Hareesh) Wallis. Douglas is one of the world’s foremost scholars of Hindu Tantrism and the esoteric traditions of the Goddess. Hareesh is a Sanskrit Scholar, teacher of Non Dual – Shaiva Tantra, and head faculty of The Mattamayura Institute.

Currently I am teaching weekly classes in my hometown of Bend, Oregon. I also teach workshops, immersions, teacher’s trainings, and retreats in the U.S. and sometimes abroad.

Ulla's familyWhen I am not teaching, studying, or practicing yoga, I enjoy spending time with my husband Jeff, going to the movies, hiking, skiing, swimming, floating the Deschutes River, and hanging out in my garden with my feline and canine family members.
